Igniting the Next Generation of Conservationists
ReNew Our Schools is a youth engagement program of the Center for ReSource Conservation that blends sustainability practices into school curricula and after–school programming.
Partnering with local school districts and conservation mentors, ReNew Our Schools is a month-long competition empowering students to design and inspire behavioral and energy usage changes in their schools, homes and communities. Created in 2007 via a partnership and generous support from the Innovo Foundation, ReNew Our Schools has reached over 40,000 Colorado students, empowering the next generation of conservation leaders. The program has expanded with the additional support of the Colorado Energy Office and the All Points North Foundation. eGauge and Magnelab have been donating energy monitoring hardware all along.
Cultivating Conservation Leadership
Student-led, ReNew Our Schools empowers students to become leaders in their schools and communities by forming environmental clubs which work with local energy professionals who volunteer as mentors. Mentors provide the knowledge and experience of the local sustainability industry, creating an invaluable link between student action and impact on the community.
Energy Efficiency Prizes
For each competition, the top performing schools win up to $25,000 to make sustainable energy efficiency changes to their school buildings. These retrofits are just a part of the lasting impact of ReNew Our Schools on partner school districts. The competition creates a blueprint for continued conservation and sustainable practices, creating lasting impact and savings for
Colorado students and schools.
