Clay Dusel, President, Dusel Custom Builders
Clay Dusel is a general contractor working in Boulder County. Clay is a graduate of C.U’s environmental studies program, and while there he did an internship with the CRC, then known as the Boulder Energy Conservation Center, co-ordinating the solar tour. From this early contact, Clay started working at the ReSource Yard, doing Sales and Deconstruction. In 2003, after working for a few other general contractors, Clay founded Dusel Custom Builders, bringing with him his passion for green building and a knowledge of material re-use . Dusel Custom Builders has since grown from Clay, a truck and a dog, to having 4 full-time employees, and managing 2 to 4 remodels at a time. Clay lives in Lyons with his wife and 2 young daughters, and is a BGBG Board member.
Nick Wilder, Boulder homeowner
Nick and his wife Megan moved from San Francisco to Boulder to enjoy the climbing, biking, skiing, and lifestyle that seems to have attracted everyone else too. We found an amazing lot sullied with a house that was both an architectural and energy-use disaster, though it was made of some good-quality materials. We could not use much of the material in our new house, but it didn't cost very much to carefully take apart the old house and donate reusable items instead of filling up the dump.
