The CRC has a New ‘Green’ Office
Working in a new space designed to reflect our values

After sixteen years at 1702 Walnut, the CRC found itself outgrowing its office space. With CRC programs growing rapidly to meet increased community demand, the staff and Board of Directors decided it was time to pack up and move to a new location. Beyond needing a larger and more functional office to accommodate recent growth, the CRC also wanted its office to be a source of education and inspiration for the countless community members who visit us for information and sustainable solutions each year.
Fortunately, we have great support from local green building businesses and designers. The concept was exciting for our supporters and everyone wanted to chip in to make the CRC’s new office a model for reuse of building materials and sustainable features.
Highlights of the new office are:
- 95% of materials used for remodel were reclaimed (exclusive of drywall)
- 85% of construction waste was diverted from landfill
- 100% of office furniture was previously used
- On demand tankless hot water system with refeeder/primer circulation
- Xeriscape garden (drip irrigation system being installed this fall)
- Low flow and dual flush toilets
- Zero-VOC paints
There are so many people to thank, but what follows is a list of folks who went above and beyond the call of duty:
- VAST (design)
- Dusel Custom Builders (general contractor)
- AJR Painting (painting)
- Eco Handyman (doors)
- Fiddlehead Designs (reception desk countertop)
- Go Tankless (on-demand hot water)
- Haul-Away Recycling (deconstruction)
- Lighthouse Solar (electrical)
- Namaste Solar (PV display)
- ReSource Boulder and Fort Collins (materials)
- Shaw Sign & Awning (signage)
We hope that you will stop by and check out our new digs at 2639 Spruce Street!
* Please note that we also have a new phone number: 303-999-3820, and our extensions all now begin with a 2.
ReSource Working with DNCC to Reclaim Material
Helping to make this the greenest convention in history!
ReSource is working in cooperation with the Democratic National Committee Convention (DNCC) to deconstruct and reclaim building materials being used as temporary staging items. The DNCC, held in Denver this election year, has set forth to be the greenest convention in history. A “Green Team” was assembled, featuring national leaders in the sustainability field, and this team sought out ReSource to help divert temporary structural features from being destined for the landfill. The DNCC Green Team learned of the long-standing history of ReSource and contacted the program for consultation and cooperation in reclaiming the lumber and fixtures that can be reused.
The ReSource team in Boulder and Fort Collins will be working with the DNCC to reclaim as many items as possible from the Pepsi Center. The CRC has been speaking with the administrators about helping divert materials from Invesco Field as well. By rough estimation, ReSource plans to collect 2 tons of material from this historical event and resell the items back to our community at a fair market value. Keep an eye out for the material after August 29 in Boulder and Fort Collins.

Simply switch to power strips
Caron and Mike Ellis of Boulder reported that they are now saving 25% off their electric bill after inviting CRC to their home to perform a residential energy audit! When asked what recommendations made the greatest impact, they replied it was simply reducing base loads by installing power strips. They put stereos, computers, televisions and exercise equipment on power strips, and now they are saving a lot of money.
